A brief overview of the project

Brief:
An inclusive family space, bathed in natural light from a south-facing garden. Designed for comfort, connection, and versatility — a place where every family member feels at home. A space to entertain loved ones, spark conversation, and enjoy everyday living tailored to the family’s needs. Light should do more than illuminate — it should uplift, energise, and bring warmth into the heart of the home. The space should also embrace the needs of intergenerational living, offering flexibility and comfort for all ages.

Response:
We created an open-plan living space that celebrates the emotional power of natural light while supporting intergenerational living. Expansive bi-fold doors, twin skylights, and generous glazing flood the home with daylight from morning to evening. The design flows effortlessly between kitchen, dining, and living zones, encouraging interaction and ease of movement — ideal for families of all ages. Every element supports daily life while fostering a sense of calm, comfort, and connection.

Result:
A bright, uplifting interior brought to life by large roof lanterns and fully retractable bi-fold doors that open onto the garden. Natural light fills the space, creating clarity and calm, while a deep, luxurious sofa invites relaxation and shared moments. The central kitchen island serves as both a social anchor and a practical hub. For cooler evenings and the winter months, underfloor heating provides a discreet yet essential layer of warmth beneath natural stone tiles — ensuring the space remains inviting and functional all year round. Blending elegance with everyday function, the space feels welcoming, timeless, and truly made for family life.
